The election of the long awaited Constituent Assembly to draft a new constitution of Nepal was successfully held in 10 April 2008 in a peaceful environment with the overwhelming participation of people of all class, caste, region and ethnic groups.
NCCN has welcomed the result of the constituent assembly issuing a press statement on behalf of Christian community of Nepal on 22 April 2008. It has congratulated all the elected members of Constituent Assembly and CPN (Maoist) for garnering public vote as the largest party of Nepal.
Through the statement, NCCN has expressed happiness for the successful completion of CA election, as a whole, in a peaceful and conducive environment and with the overwhelming participation of people . It has experssed thanks to the Election commission, Nepal government, political parties, human rights activists and organizations, religious communities, civil society, all voters and all other concerned national and international sectors for their positive role to make the election a great success of Nepali people.
NCCN has also urged all the political parties representing in the CA to go with unity to draft the new inclusive constitution that will guarantee all the rights of all Nepalese people and all other concerned forces to cooperate in this process.
